Carling Cup Final

Ok, the result was not what we hoped for, and i know that the day was not cheap, but, i would still loved to have been there. A cup final is a special moment in the season, especially for Villa supporters who have been starved of any sort of occasion for a long time.
I dont have a problem with the result, they were the better 11 on the pitch and if we are honest it could have been more, only a superb right hand of Freidel and the woodwork prevented it.

But.........

The referee as usual made the headlines, overall his performance was poor but to NOT send off Vidic for the Gabby challenge.....WHY??

The laws of the game are there for everyone, every division, every player, every competition. It does not matter if it's the 3rd minute or the 93rd minute, IF its a goalscoring opportunity and the player is bought down in the box, it's a PENALTY and a RED CARD. There is no interpretation needed by the referee those are the rules.

Sam's Redundancy Negotiation, Official Updates

Ok,
you are probably all aware by now that there is every possible chance that i am about to undergo being fingered by the redundancy police.
Today, Wednesday 24th Feb was the first of what will be several meetings to decide my fate at the company i have worked for the last 12 years.
The selection will be based on a points system....experience, flexibility, disciplinary record, BLAH,BLAH, you get the gist. If selected i will get minimum redundancy payment and will be unemployed within 2 months.

If i am not selected I lose my shift allowance, 25% as i will be working days, my hours will be increased from 37.5 to 42.5 and i will have to be flexible and do whatever is expected, this encludes many duties not currently part of my job.

This is all legal according to government employment law, oh and I AM IN A UNION!

No wonder the country is going to the dogs when employers can get away with treating their workforce this way.

Looking forward to tonights game, taking our daughter to her first game as a birthday present so hopefully we can get through this round without extra time and pens.

I'm hopeful that MON puts out a changed but strong side against a very tough determined Neil Warnock Team, main thing i would like to see whatever team is put out is that we try 100% win or loose!

Burn out or not to burn out?

So with no new additions added in January....how does everyone feel the rest of the season will pan out??

Will we burn out like last season or continue to push for 4th place and two domestic cups?

I personally think we are in better shape this season with Bouma on his way back, and with Downing and Delph in so i can see us sustaining our challenge for domestic honours!

I put an ad on ebay for CC Final tickets. A guy called me tonight and he has one £70 face value ticket. I really need two but if any of you are interested in it then call Olly on 07769169182. I think he's going to be looking around £120 - £140..?

If anyone has any news of where to get a ticket(s) then put it in this thread.

I really need tickets, so please help me out.

What annoys me is that theres loads of season ticket holders that did not go to the other CC games, yet get first dibs at the final tickets.....! Unfair to those that either can't afford a season ticket or can't get to enough league games I think....!! There should be a rewards system also in place for those that attend cup games...!

quite simply. . . . . . . WHAT WAS THAT? It's jan n we need to find a player who can finish... If we're not buying then give the hungry youth players a pop, they were there for the taking today and our goal shy strikers never turned up! Heskey 2 in 23 now! He played well today but again hes still no striker and i bet i or anyone on this site could have done the same thing as him today if not better.
